TOKYO, Japan (May 16, 2017) – Digital Arts Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Toshio Dogu; “Digital Arts”; Code 2326), a leading provider of information security software, announced that its i-FILTER series, a web filtering solution, acquired 40.7% (#1) share in the domestic education market according to Education Market 2017, a report on school IT facilities and infrastructures published in March 2017 by Fuji Chimera Research Institute, Inc. (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Hitoshi Tanaka; “Fuji Chimera Research Institute”).

Fuji Chimera Research surveyed the current status of academic support systems, school IT facilities, infrastructure, teaching materials, contents, and hardware in the educational market including elementary, junior high, high schools, universities, vocational schools, cram and preparatory schools, and other schools such as special support schools and kindergarten. This survey was conducted to understand current market trends and future directions based on efforts by the government, relevant ministries and local authorities.

While the education market drives towards establishing an educational cloud platform, IT security is considered a key issue in parallel to facilitating IT environment in education businesses, including IT usage in school administration and in the classrooms. The preliminary draft of the Educational Information Security Policy Guidelines, disclosed in September 2016 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, states the necessity of ICT and cloud usage in the classrooms and a robust link between learning history data and school administration systems. It is anticipated that the said guideline, scheduled to be officially presented on or after April 2017, would include languages that urge schools to place cyber security policies as well as to take appropriate measures against new threats and cloud usage.

In their recent report, Fuji Chimera Research Institute published an analysis that more academic institutions utilize tablet devices and the demand for MDM as a mobile device management is on the rise. In such circumstances, it says that “Digital Arts has proven track record in providing their solutions as OEM for MDMs and other products”.

Digital Arts i-FILTER series operates with the largest web filtering database in Japan and has been deployed by over 60% of schools and educational institutions nationwide. In addition to proxy web filtering, schools across the country also install i-FILTER Browser & Cloud, a cloud-based web filtering software, as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology recently budgeted to introduce tablet devices to the schools.

The education market is anticipated to grow as more schools advances preparations to offer ICT environment in the classrooms. Digital Arts provides i-FILTER as an optimal security solution for school administration and i-FILTER Browser & Cloud to keep classrooms secure while utilizing ICT.
