"i-FILTER@Cloud" GIGA School Edition:
Passwordless authentication - even with Chromebooks

Information security solution provider Digital Arts, Inc. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Toshio Dogu; hereinafter referred to as "Digital Arts"; Code 2326) is pleased to announce that from August 31 it will be distributing a new feature for its web security product "i-FILTER@Cloud" GIGA School Edition that allows the passwordless authentication of Chromebooks.

New Feature
Supports passwordless authentication on all 3 operating systems recommended by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Windows/ChromeOS/iOS)
Previously, when using the "i-FILTER@Cloud" GIGA School Edition on a Chromebook, a password was required on the proxy authentication screen at startup. However, with this new feature, passwordless authentication will now be supported on all 3 operating systems (Windows/ChromeOS/iOS) recommended by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, making devices much easier to use.

Simplifying authentication of the Chromebooks which are heavily used in educational settings.
Using G Suite Admin Console* to make initial setup easier.

The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "GIGA School Program" has been accelarating the realization of "1 device for 1 student with a high-speed network" environments at schools. Additionally, due to the extension of school closures as a preventative measure against the spread of COVID-19, the implementation of environments capable of online classes has become an urgent must.

Against this backdrop, Chromebooks - which are simple to set up and operate in educational settings, and reduce installation and operation costs - are continually being introduced to classrooms. At Digital Arts, we provide our web security product "i-FILTER@Cloud" GIGA School Edition that helps create a safer learning environment in the cloud so that educational institutions can easily introduce web filtering on Chromebooks which are commonly used in classrooms. This product is equipped with a new feature that allows passwordless authentication, reducing the time and effort previously required to enter a password when authenticating a Chromebook. Additionally, the initial setup process has been made easier with the use of the G Suite Admin Console*.
