FinalCode® Ver.5.3's August 29 release to feature new function to directly edit inside of encrypted folders and ZIP files using a proprietary secure explorer

TOKYO, Japan (August 24, 2017) – Digital Arts Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Toshio Dogu; hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”, Code 2326) a leading provider of information security software, will release Version 5.3 of FinalCode, the file encryption and tracking solution for businesses and government agencies. It is equipped with “Secure Container” (patent pending), a function that encrypts all folders saved on a PC. It is set to be released on August 29.

For businesses, when a file containing confidential information is shared by stakeholders inside and outside the company, it is important to take measures to prevent confidential information leakage. The existing versions of FinalCode provided a secure environment by encrypting individual files, but due to this system, it was necessary to open multiple encrypted files simultaneously in order for the reference links to function, presenting a large problem in terms of convenience in a business environment.

In order to solve this problem, FinalCode Ver.5.3 will include a “secure container” function, which will encrypt entire folders on the PC as designated by the customer. By encrypting the entire folder, as opposed to encrypting each file, the folder itself is designated as secure, allowing all the files in the folder to be processed in parallel. Also, the same level of security will be realised for the folders and files in the “secure container” when remaining within the scope of authorization. Files can be viewed with FinalCode Explorer, which functions like Windows Explorer.

In FinalCode Ver.5.3, there will also be enhanced AutoCAD, Illustrator and Photoshop support. The secure container will allow the use of CAD files and design files in business settings, allowing browsing between multiple files.

Furthermore, secure containers can also function as ZIP files. Until now, file editing within the ZIP file was necessary to decompress the file once, then make it a ZIP file again after editing. But by using a secure container to make an “encrypted ZIP file,” editing and saving can be done within FinalCode Explorer.

In addition, from Version 5.3 onward “tag information” can be added as metadata to the encrypted files. In addition to simple access log search for files, file search using that tag information becomes possible, improving the manageability of files.

With FinalCode, Digital Arts will continue to develop new functions and improve existing ones to allow businesses and local government to boost their work efficiency via easier file editing and management under a secure environment.
