~Local government information network service eliminates need to build on-premises environment, reducing workload of information systems department and boosting security~
TOKYO, Japan (September 28, 2017) – Digital Arts Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Toshio Dogu, hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”, Code 2326) a leading provider of information security software, will release FinalCode® Local Government Limited Edition for LGWAN Service on October 1. The file encryption and tracking solution for businesses and government agencies is an LGWAN-focused ASP service in the form of a closed network. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications set out a plan to improve the security of local governments’ information systems, and this solution is designed to reach that goal.
According to the Ministry’s guidelines announced in November 2015, it is now an urgent task to maintain the security of the LGWAN environment by taking measures such as dividing the LGWAN connection systems and the internet connection systems for each local government.
Digital Arts started offering the on-premises version of “FinalCode Local Authorized Limited Edition” from April last year, and it was implemented by many local governments. However, in the case of the on-premises version, the burden of setting up the operating environment posed a challenge to local governments. For that reason, we received many requests for a LGWAN-ASP service that can be implemented immediately, without the need to also create an operating environment. This answers those requests, resulting in an easier to use solution with less burden placed on the information systems department.
“FinalCode Local Government Limited Edition for LGWAN Service” is specialized in protecting files in LGWAN connected networks according to the requirements of public bodies such as prefectural agencies, city halls, town/village offices, and others. By setting automatic encryption for folders inside the file server, when a staff member stores a file in a folder, FinalCode automatically encrypts it and an operation log for the file is collected. It is possible to prevent information leakage because even if the staff only has viewing authorization, and even if the file leaks outside the organization, no unauthorized personnel will be able to open the file. In addition, it is possible to track FinalCode files, so the file will not only be encrypted, but the administrator will be able to check the history of sent files and remotely delete them if the need arises. This allows local governments using LGWAN to securely exchange files amongst themselves.
Digital Arts aims to continue aiding in the prevention of information leakage. To accomplish this we propose FinalCode as a solution to solve the issue of security in file sharing among local governments across Japan.
