TOKYO, Japan (November 20, 2017) – Digital Arts Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Toshio Dogu, hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”, Code 2326) a leading provider of information security software, will release multi-application internet filtering MultiAgent for iOS as a part of i-FILTER Browser & Cloud. It offers endpoint web security for companies, educational institutions, and government offices to protect devices from various threats, while simultaneously improving operational efficiency. It is set to be released on November 30, 2017, after revamping the version that was scheduled to be offered in February.

We at Digital Arts had planned to offer the iOS version of MultiAgent in February of this year, but we postponed the release to improve functionality, to be compatible with the latest OS version and to integrate enhanced functions.

The “Guidelines on Educational Information Security Policy” released by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on October 18 stress that security measures within schools are an issue to tackle going forward. The usage of tablets and other multimedia devices has increased in schools nationwide as many lessons now incorporate tablets. This increases opportunities for students to connect to the internet, and creates the need for filters to be able to run alongside Safari and other applications with web browsing functionality. These applications result in a communication loophole that system administrators cannot monitor.

Additionally, corporations’ ways of working have diversified, and there are increasingly more occasions where employees conduct business taking their devices outside the office. Many of these devices have a lower security setting compared to those inside the organization where threat prevention measures are more strictly implemented, causing these devices to be targeted by malware and targeted attacks. This presents a problem that needs to be addressed. Security measures for devices used outside the office need to be strengthened.

Since MultiAgent for iOS can filter HTTP and HTTPS communication for all applications running on iOS devices including the default iOS browser, Safari. Furthermore, filtering is also carried out for the internet browsing functions built in to business applications and learning support applications. Functions added include an internet usage timer display function and warning screens requested by educational institutions, and a detailed log output to support incident report and response as strongly requested by corporate customers.

i-FILTER Browser & Cloud is compatible with multiple OSs and multiple devices as it features a two-part lineup including MultiAgent, a multi-application internet filtering solution and SecureBrowser, a dedicated browser-based application that manages device data storage. Since these are provided as part of the license for i-FILTER Browser & Cloud, they can flexibly cope with changes when devices updated or exchanged, and can freely arrange the line-up according to necessity. Also, by combining both functions in one device, it is possible to respond flexibly to complicated security requirements by implementing internet security measures for the entire device including controlling and managing confidential data, authenticating data and implementing information leakage countermeasures.

In conjunction with the launch of this renewed service, a MultiAgent for iOS campaign will be carried out. The first part of the campaign is targeted at customers in school-related fields who have purchased i-FILTER Browser & Cloud in the period before the end of March 2018. The campaign will offer to dispatch full-time lecturers on request who can introduce tablet use. We will provide the lectures free of charge to promote the elimination of anxiety when using the internet at school.

Digital Arts will continue to develop solutions to realize a safe and comfortable internet environment through our endpoint web security solution, i-FILTER Browser & Cloud. We will also continue to solve security issues for enterprises, educational and public markets, and continue to develop functions to make mobile devices safer.
