Suzuki adopts FinalCode® as a measure to trace files, as a countermeasure against confidential information leaks and as a way to prevent accidental data loss among business partners
TOKYO, Japan (February 20, 2018) – Digital Arts Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Toshio Dogu, hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”, Code 2326), a leading provider of information security software, has provided FinalCode for Suzuki Corporation, a major automotive manufacturer (Head office: Shizuoka Prefecture, Hamamatsu City, President: Toshihiro Suzuki, hereinafter referred to as Suzuki) as a countermeasure against confidential information leaks.
Suzuki, an automotive manufacturer that has attained numerous sales achievements worldwide, transmits and receives many files containing confidential information during the course of their business with more than 100 domestic and overseas business partners. As such, the implementation of an internet security solution to prevent leaks had been an urgent issue. While gathering information various security products, they found Digital Arts’ file encryption and tracking solution FinalCode, which is made in Japan, and is highly acclaimed even in Silicon Valley, USA. This solution allows the user to track the history of files being sent and received, allowing the user to prevent potential information leaks. This led to the adoption by Suzuki in October 2017.
As viewing and editing rights have been given to only the relevant personnel between Suzuki and their business partners, it is possible to ensure that no information will be leaked even if transferred to a third party, even after the fact, as they will not be able to open the file. In addition to both encrypting and tracking files, it is also possible to specify which operations users are permitted to do (view, edit etc.) and view file access logs, all for a stronger overall file security.
On the usage side, in a shared folder inside Suzuki, all files are automatically encrypted by just putting them in the appropriate folder. Therefore, it is possible not only to prevent viewing/editing by unauthorized employees, but also to alleviate the work burden of encrypting each individual file.
Since Suzuki adopted FinalCode as an SaaS service, no additional server construction or accompanying personnel expenses were necessary, and this facilitated the rapid deployment of the solution. Currently, Suzuki is considering expanding use of FinalCode to domestic and overseas companies and departments that exchange large numbers of files.
Digital Arts will continue to improve the product capabilities of FinalCode, such as the ability to trace files which have been sent and the ability to remotely delete files that have already been sent, as measures against cyber-attacks and information leaks from the inside. This will improve business efficiency in more companies and safeguard important and confidential information.
- Endorsement
We received the following endorsement from Suzuki Co., Ltd. concerning the implementation of the solution.
Yoshihiro Ukai, IT System Department Manager, Suzuki CorporationWe recently introduced FinalCode provided by Digital Arts Co., Ltd. in a department with many exchanges with outside parties. Measures against information leakage from inside the company are also important, but I am pleased with the tracing functions of files that have already been sent to customers, which is one of the pressing concerns that we had. Files that went outside the company could not be managed after they have been sent, so we were not able to trace where the confidential information may have been leaked, but FinalCode is the only solution that allows the tracking of files. In the future, we are considering introducing FinalCode not only in Japan but also with our overseas business partners. We will continue to strengthen the file security of business partners and group companies through the use of FinalCode and to provide a safe and comfortable service environment.
