Supporting children's safe and secure use of the internet during the winter vacation when internet use increases
Filtering software i-Filter special price promotion

Information security solutions provider Digital Arts, Inc. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Toshio Dogu; hereinafter referred to as "Digital Arts"; securities code 2326) is pleased to announce that it began a special price promotion on its home web filtering software i-Filter on September 20.

Internet addiction, game addiction, and becoming victims of crimes via social media... Measures to prevent children becoming victims on the internet

As we enter winter vacation, many parents may be concerned about their children's internet use with social media and online video games. According to a survey *1 conducted by the city of Yokohama on students at elementary and junior high schools in the city, about 9.4% of all respondents showed a tendency to internet addiction, and about 8.9% were addicted to games. In the survey, both internet addiction and video game addiction were also found to be deeply related to poor lifestyle habits such as lack of sleep and exercise.

In addition, according to the National Police Agency's statistics *2, the number of children who were victims of crimes (punishable acts) caused by social media was 1,819 in 2020. Although this number was lower than the previous year, it has been on the rise since 2015. Of the affected children who were found to be using filters, 85.5% were found not to be using filters when the crimes took place.

With the increasing rate of smartphone ownership and the wide variety of content used, inappropriate use of the internet not only leads to internet and video game addiction, but also to the possibility of becoming a victim of crime. It is important for parents and guardians to understand how their children are using smartphones, discuss how to use them with them, and take measures to prevent damage.

In response to this situation, Digital Arts will be offering its home web filtering product i-Filter at a special price to new customers who purchase the product between December 20, 2021, and January 18, 2022 (this special price is available only when you apply through the campaign website).
Using one of the largest filtering databases in Japan, i-Filter boasts a harmful site blocking rate of 96.0% *3) and can be used at home with an easy-to-understand UI and intuitive operation. i-Filter's flexible filter rules and time restrictions are easy to set up and can be used to ensure safe Internet use by children.
