Information security solutions provider Digital Arts Inc. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Toshio Dogu; hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”; Code 2326) is pleased to announce m-FILTER MailAdviser OWA, a new product to provide pop-ups for misdelivered emails on OWA (Outlook for the web), releasing on July 4.

An increasing number of organizations are using OWA, a web-based email client. This has created a need for measures to prevent misdelivering emails on OWA
Organizations with countless business partners exchange important files via email on a daily basis. If one of these emails is misdelivered, it could result in a serious information leak. In addition, employees must constantly be aware when sending emails of the risk of misdelivering, ultimately affecting their productivity.

Digital Arts began providing the product m-FILTER MailAdviser as a pop-up type email misdelivery countermeasure that can be used with Outlook email client. As of the end of April 2023, more than 200,000 people have used this product. Recently, an increasing number of organizations have been using OWA, the web-based email client for Outlook. As a result, the need to use m-FILTER MailAdviser on OWA is also increasing.

m-FILTER MailAdviser OWA also sends files without using the PPAP method
On July 4, m-FILTER MailAdviser OWA will officially be launched as an add-on for OWA to provide pop-ups for misdelivered emails. In addition to the pop-up misdelivery prevention function of m-FILTER MailAdviser, a feature to solve the issue of sending files via PPAP (a method wherein a locked ZIP file is sent with the password being sent in a subsequent email, and that has recently seen as a security risk) has been added, providing a solution to both misdelivery and PPAP issues.

When sending an email, m-FILTER MailAdviser OWA will provide a pop-up that prompts the sender to check for mistakes in the recipient, email body and any attachments, raising awareness while lowering the risk of email misdeliveries. In addition, as a PPAP countermeasure, the system will encrypt attachments and automatically upload them to online storage provided by Digital Arts. The sender can designate the viewer from the pop-up or through OWA's "Sent" page. If a file is mistakenly sent, the sender can later revoke the file viewing rights and prohibit viewing. These features provide a secure and convenient countermeasure to PPAP and file management through OWA.
m-FILTER MailAdviser OWA Features
1. Email misdelivery prevention
When sending an email, a pop-up automatically appears that contains the recipient, email body and any attachments, prompting the sender to double-check for any mistakes. The email can be sent after the double-check. By making the user aware of the risks of accidentally misdelivering emails, the system helps raise awareness of misdelivery prevention.
2. Sending email without using PPAP
The system encrypts attachments and automatically uploads them to online storage provided by Digital Arts. The recipient can then download the file from the provided URL. Using the Browser View (BV)* function of FinalCode, a Digital Arts file security product, the file viewing rights of recipients can be changed. If a file is sent to the wrong address, the viewing rights can be revoked and made unviewable.
* Browser View files: A file format (HTML file format) encrypted by FinalCode, a file security product. Encrypted files can be viewed on in-browser without the need to install a separate application.

3. Read/unread status can be checked and viewing rights can be revoked on the "Sent" page.
The read/unread status of files can be checked for each recipient on OWA's "Sent" page. If someone who is not authorized is attempting to view a file, it is displayed in red as unauthorized access and can be easily checked. The viewing rights of all files can be revoked at once, even after being sent, by click a button to prohibit viewing of all files.
Price: 300 yen per license/month (excl. consumption tax)
Works with: Outlook on the web and Outlook 2021
