- new functions highly praised, successfully obtaining the heightening demand for email security products -
TOKYO, Japan (October 30, 2018) – Digital Arts Inc.(headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, CEO: Toshio Dogu, hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”, Code 2326,) a provider of the gateway type e-mail security software "m-FILTER" series was identified in IDC Japan Co., Ltd.'s (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Masato Takenaka, hereinafter referred to as “IDC”) September 2018 issue "Domestic Information Security Product Market Share 2017" market research. In it, m-FILTER was found to be the most popular product in the Japanese market with the highest market share, accounting for 19.6% of total sales by vendor in the Japanese e-mail security software (on-premises) market. This was an increase of 3.9 percentage points from a share of 15.7% in 2016.
This survey is based on IDC's analysis of the Japanese domestic information security product market, in this case sorted into two categories including external threat management products, which cover endpoint and messaging security, internet security, network security and internal threat management functions, and internal threat management products, which cover identity / access management and security / vulnerability management. This was published in the vendor share of 2017.
Digital Arts's "m-FILTER" is a gateway type email security software that solves challenges like e-mail information leaks, system audit requirements, spam mail, targeted attack emails, all of which are increasing year by year. The three main functions are 1) "m-FILTER MailFilter" which contains countermeasure functions against targeted attack emails and internal information leakages.2) "m-FILTER Archive," which archives e-mails containing attached files in real time to reduce the operational burden, and 3) "m-FILTER Anti-Spam" which thoroughly eliminates spam e-mail.Secure measures for e-mailing can be attained by selecting the right functions for the job at hand, or by implementing the full lineup for a rock-solid overall e-mail solution.
The cause behind Digital Arts' share advancement is that with cyber-attacks becoming increasingly sophisticated, e-mail security measures are needed as soon as possible. Those include blocking targeted attacks from the outside such as malware, and capturing malicious e-mail and others. That is why when these new functions are integrated into the product, those products are highly evaluated. The high market share of the "m-FILTER" series comes from success in capturing the demand of corporate enterprises with regard to things like version updates and continual product improvement.
In the future we expect that demand for e-mail security will further expand, as people work in increasingly diverse ways, such as teleworking. In the latest version of "m-FILTER" Ver.5.20 (https://www.daj.jp/company/release/2018/0904_01/), we have built on the whitelist database and collated mail source information more precisely, which enhances the function that blocks camouflaged e-mail.This will allow users to receive only secure mail without any extra effort required. In May of 2018, we released the cloud service "m-FILTER@Cloud", and we will continue to maintain top market share by offering products that meet customers' needs.
